    Advanced First Aid (AFA)

Firefighters respond to A TON of medical calls! Become an Advanced First Aider Today!

Do you like hanging out with sick or injured people for hours and hours and hours on end? If so, this is the course for you! All jokes aside, this program is designed to prepare professionals in the workplace, and pre-hospital medical first responders for initial patient assessments, the provision of safe and prudent care, and the transport of a patient to the most appropriate healthcare facility.

The Canadian Red Cross Advanced First Aid (AFA) course offered by the Canadian Fire Rescue College is one of the only programs currently offered by the college that is not delivered in a blended delivery format. The entire course is delivered in-person at the CFRC Red Deer Campus (Springbrook), and there is very little pre-reading required leading up to the course.

The AFA course can be taken by anyone who requires this level of training, with virtually no barriers to enrollment. This program is ideal for individuals seeking employment in the Fire Service, and for individuals who may require this level of training at their workplace (first aid attendants).
