The Canadian Fire Rescue College has a rich history of academic excellence and a commitment to providing students with the skills they need to succeed in their careers. The CFRC is a fully licensed Alberta Private Vocational College, and is also a Certified Educational Institution as designated by the Government of Canada. Our Fire Academy is also listed in the Canadian Indigenous Business Directory.
Located within the busy Alberta Beach Fire Station, our campus is home to many brave men and women who respond to those in need. Students spend time on station, at the Alberta Beach training grounds, and at the Edmonton Fire Rescue Poundmaker Fire Training Facility.

The CFRC offers these programs at lower prices, and in better quality than any of our competitors. The Enhanced Firefighter Training Program is the most elite level of training provided by the CFRC. In addition to 11 separate courses, this program is the only firefighter training program in Canada that has a formal practicum placement included as a mandatory course component. Enhanced students are placed at 3 diffrent fire stations throughout their placements to gain unique and diverse experiences.
The NFPA 1001 Firefighter I&II Training Program is the fundamental basic level of training required to apply at most fire departments in Canada and the United States. Any department that does not outright require applicants to have this level of training, will certainly prefer applicants who do!
The NFPA 470 (1072) Hazmat Responder Training Program is part of the Firefighter I&II program offered here at the college, but can be taken separately by individuals who are seeking a Hazmat-specific type of employment. Graduates of this program typically apply to work for hazardous materials handling and mediation companies.
The NFPA 1140 (1051) Wildland Fire Fighter Training Program has been developed to train structural firefighters in the ways of wildland firefighting. This course focusses on fighting fires in the wildland-urban-interface, and is not typically a course taken by individuals seeking employment as wildland firefighters.
The NFPA 1002 Pumping Apparatus Driver Operator Training Program covers both the operation of emergency vehicles, and the operation of fire pumps in basic and complex environments. Some departments may require applicants to have this level of training before they can apply, and virtually all departments will prefer applicants to have it.
This Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. This training is a pre-requisite to all other programs offered by the college.
The Emergency Medical Responder Program offered by the college is delivered through the Canadian Red Cross. This training program exceeds the requirements of departments that require EMR, Advanced First Aid, or Medical First Responder level training. This program is approved by the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics, but is not yet approved by the Alberta College of Paramedics.
The NFPA 1041 Emergency Services Instructor Training Program is split into two distinct levels which are usually taken separately. These levels of training are required for individuals seeking promotions within their fire service, or for individuals seeking to become employed at the officer or instructor level elsewhere.
