    Admissions & Eligibility

    We welcome applicants pursuing firefighter and emergency services training, including those preparing to enter the fire service and those seeking to add certifications. Our programs are designed to meet industry standards and real-world operational expectations.


    Yes. Students must be 18 years of age or older at the time of attendance. No exceptions apply.


    Yes. Students must be legally entitled to work in Canada. We do not provide work authorization or sponsorship.


    Some programs have specific admission requirements, such as medical clearance, prerequisite certifications, or documentation. Program-specific requirements are listed on each course page and must be completed prior to attendance.

    Programs & Certifications

    We offer firefighter and emergency services training programs, including Firefighter I & II (NFPA 1001 & 470), HazMat training, Wildland Firefighter certification, and additional specialty courses. A full list of programs is available here


    The Firefighter I & II program covers:

    • NFPA 1001 Level I
    • NFPA 1001 Level II
    • NFPA 470 Awareness
    • NFPA 470 Operations


    Graduates are eligible to apply for IFSAC and Pro Board® certification, which are widely recognized by fire departments across North America.


    Yes. Students who already hold NFPA 1001 Firefighter I certification (IFSAC or Pro Board) may enroll in Firefighter II only.


    Training Format & Time Commitment

    Most CFRC programs use a blended learning model, combining online theory with in-person practical training. The delivery format varies by course, and details are clearly outlined on each individual program page.


    Yes. Any required online theory must be successfully completed before attending the in-person practical portion of your course.


    The Firefighter I & II program includes 176 hours of in-person, hands-on practical training, which equates to approximately one month of intensive on-campus instruction.

    Accommodation

    Yes. On-site student accommodation is provided at no additional cost for enrolled students.


    Students are assigned single-occupancy rooms equipped with a bed and linens, desk, storage, secure access, and shared common spaces. View photos of the accommodation here. 


    Yes. Bathrooms are shared, separated by gender, and maintained regularly. Men and women do not share bathrooms.


    Accommodation includes high-speed Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, common lounge areas, kitchen and food prep spaces, refrigeration, and on-site parking.


    • Quiet hours begin at 9:00 p.m.
    • No guests permitted in dorm buildings after quiet hours
    • Alcohol and drugs are not permitted on campus
    • Dormitories are smoke-free
    • No curfew, but respectful conduct is expected at all times


    Meals

    Meals are not included with tuition. Students may purchase meal cards or prepare their own meals using campus kitchen facilities.


    Meal card pricing varies depending on course length. Current pricing is available through the CFRC Online Store, where students can purchase meal cards directly.


    Costs, Payment & Funding

    Current tuition and fee information is listed on the Firefighter I & II program page. Tuition includes training and accommodation. Additional costs may apply (see below).


    The application fee is non-refundable. We recommend confirming program eligibility and funding arrangements before applying.


    Yes. Interest-free payment plans are available for eligible programs and allow tuition to be paid in scheduled installments prior to the practical portion.


    Our programs are considered part-time and are not currently eligible for government-funded student loans or grants. Students typically arrange financing through personal savings or private loans from banks or financial institutions.


    Depending on the program, additional costs may include:

    • Class B uniforms and footwear
    • Required textbooks and workbooks
    • IFSAC/Pro Board certification fees
    • Optional meal cards 
    • Travel to and from campus
    • A computer or laptop for online coursework

    Travel & Getting to Campus

    Travel information, including nearby airports, ground transportation options, and estimated travel times, is available on our Travel Assistance page. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel.


    International Students

    Yes. We are a Designated Learning Institution authorized to admit international students into licensed programs. You can find all information related to International Students here. 


    Yes. On-site accommodation is included for international students for the duration of their program.


    No. Meal cards may be purchased separately, or students may prepare their own meals.


    No. We cannot provide immigration advice. International students should consult a licensed immigration professional.


    Next Steps
