Canadian Red Cross–Certified First Aid and CPR Training

First aid and CPR training provides essential life-saving skills that can make a critical difference in medical emergencies at home, in the workplace, or in public settings. The Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Training Program at Canadian Fire Rescue College is designed to prepare individuals with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to respond effectively to a wide range of medical emergencies.

Delivered in partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, this in-person course covers comprehensive first aid principles alongside CPR Level C, including adult, child, and infant resuscitation techniques. Training emphasizes hands-on practice, realistic scenarios, and current best practices in emergency medical response. No pre-reading or prior experience is required.

The Standard First Aid & CPR Level C course is open to members of the public, workplace responders, students, and emergency services candidates. It is also a prerequisite for many advanced training programs offered by the college and is widely required for employment, certification, and compliance across numerous industries.

Training is delivered entirely in person at our Red Deer campus, ensuring participants receive practical, instructor-led instruction in a supportive learning environment.

Admission Requirements

The CFRC has a pretty comprehensive admissions policy which students should review before applying. The highlights of the requirements for this particular program are:

Proof of age (minimum 16 years of age)

Delivery Method

The Standard First Aid and CPR course is delivered in an in-class format, meaning that the entirety of the course is delivered in person.

First Aid and CPR Level C Course Highlights:

Approximately 14 hours of in-person training
For those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home.
Meets Provincial First Aid and CPR requirements for NFPA certification via IFSAC and Pro Board.
CPR-C covers all aspects of CPR skills and theory for adults, children and infants including two-rescuer CPR skills. CPR-C includes the importance of early defibrillation and how to use an AED.
The electronic version of the textbook for this program is available for free to all students and is automatically sent out after tuition payment has been received.

Standard First Aid Refresher:

Approximately 1 full day (7.5 hour) class
Only eligible to individuals who hold a valid Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate (Cannot be expired - if expired must re-take full 2-day course)

Certifications Earned

There is one official Red Cross certification earned upon successful completion of the training program, it is:

Graduate Career Potential

This Standard First Aid and CPR Level C training program provides graduates with certifications necessary to apply for certain firefighting and Emergency Medical Services programs at the Canadian Fire Rescue College or at other institutions. This training may also be required by employers in many un-related industries and professions.

Licensure

This program does not require licensing through Alberta Advanced Education due to its short duration and low price.

Living Accomodations

Upon request, First Aid and CPR students may receive permission to stay overnight at the college dormitories. While there is no fee for this living arrangement, expect to not be staying at the Ritz! Students who demand a more luxurious living arrangement will have to seek it out at their own expense. The dormitories feature private rooms, with shared washroom and kitchen facilities.

All classes are hosted at our Red Deer campus located at 3420 22 Street, Springbrook.

2026 Pricing:

Standard First Aid and CPR Level C: $150.00

Standard First Aid Refresher: $120.00

These tuition payments must be made prior to attending class on the first day. We do not accept in-person payment methods.
